TERRIGENOUS
(ter- rig'e-nous), a. [L. terrigena,
terrigenus: terra the earth + genere, gignere, to bring forth.]
Earthborn, produced by the earth.
Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, 1996.
Our
work strives toward
artistic and architectural clarity
of design, is site specific, and works closely with an individual
client's needs and imagination. We
aim for our designs to be long lasting, responsive to the needs
of the specific site, creative, and carefully detailed.
Our
backgrounds are in landscape architecture, fine arts, and construction,
and therefore it is important to us that the designs on which
we are working focus on ideas which we feel are sound and inspiring
to construct.
We are dreamers,
but at the same time makers, and in every project we try to maintain
a healthy balance of imagination and experimentation rooted in
a firm grasp of realism and experience.

Scott W. a
co-owner of TERRIGENOUS, attended the Rhode Island School of Design
and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1992 and a Bachelor of Landscape
Architecture in 1993. Before returning to Vermont he worked as an

Hayward Landscape Gardening and Design. Currently he is in his second
term on the Planning Commission for the Town of Chester. While being
pivotal in the conceptual design phase of each project, Scott focuses
on establishing the schedule, overseeing the construction of the
work that has been designed, and guiding the direction of the business
as a whole.
In addition to working
on these projects Scott lives for their kids, building ideas on
their property, skiing in powder, skating, and running ideas past
Jana, a habit that started in 1992.

Wendy has
fluttered in and out of TERRIGENOUS as a behind-the-scenes wordsmith
since 2005. She is now a more regular fixture in her new role as
part-time Studio Manager. Wendy graduated from Rutgers College with
an Honors Degree in English. Her work experience is concentrated
in educational publishing--editing, writing, researching, project
development and managment, and marketing. Since moving from New
Jersey to Vermont with her family in 2002, she has been enjoying
broadening her communication and management skills by working with
several non-profits and commercial enterprises.
If not sitting in
front of a computer, you can find Wendy laughing with her husband,
Jeff, playing with her young daughters, Zoe and Eva Jayne, or reading
a book. She likes to pretend that she has time to decorate their
home, garden, and walk the dog.

Cally is a
new member of our staff, and assists with the construction of our
designs. She is a recent graduate of Amherst College, where she
majored in English and fine arts, concentrating in oil painting
and metal sculpture. Cally grew up splitting her time between Gloucester,
Massachusetts and her family's farm in southern Vermont. Her artistic
background coupled with her experience working outdoors, helped
develop an interest in landscape architecture which she is exploring
now, here at Terrigenous. She looks forward to learning more about
the field as she contributes to our projects.
In her free time,
Cally is a Jane Austen fanatic, who enjoys anything that takes her
outdoors, including skiing, sailing, motorcycling and riding.
